When I was kid I was pretty much introduced to the whole idea of satire by Mad magazines my older siblings read. I especially remember a particular riff on the song America the Beautiful undermined by a photo montage, each verse mocked with some sarcastic take on the song. I've been searching for it for years online with no luck.

For example the line "sea to shining sea" had a photo of a beach with pollution and used syringes, and the line "crown they good with brotherhood" was represented with a ghetto in the shadow of the Capitol building. I think they showed defaced gravestones to parody the "shed his grace on thee" lyric.

Anyone else remember this? Or am I confusing this for Hustler or Cracked something? I'm thinking this has gotta be dated in the neighborhood of 1988 to 1992.

This is also the article that college student Ann Griffiths needed for a class project, but couldn't locate.

She wrote to MAD, Bill Gaines sent her a copy, they continued the correspondence, and she ended up marrying him!
